What is a dead spot in a hopper and how is it prevented?

A dead spot is an area where material stops flowing and accumulates. It is prevented through proper hopper geometry (mass flow design with steep, smooth walls), appropriate wall angle based on material friction properties, and flow aids such as vibrators, air cannons, or fluidizing pads.
